We had a very successful first day here in Guatemala. We started the morning with breakfast with all the girls and quickly learned that dishes is a great way to bond with the girls! After breakfast clean up we got to listen to Stu's testimony as he shared with the girls how God has been working in his life and how we must trust in the Lord's plan for our lives. After that devotional we had lots of time to continue to get to know the girls through soccer, basketball, jump rope and many other games. Then we had a very yummy lunch (11/10 from all team members)! Then after lunch clean up we started our technical skills rotation. With this we had four separate skills that we trained the girls with. Mandy and I (Laura) were in charge of English letter writing, in this rotation the girls write letters back to their soponsers. Sarah and Karla were in charge of training the girls practical finance application. Stu and Andrew were leading job training session where they taught the girls the dos and donts of employment. And last but not least Caroline and Kate were in charge of sewing training session where they taught the girls the see scrunchies, they are now all wearing their creations around proudly in their hair! After technical skills training we played some more games with the girls until our yummy spaghetti dinner! To end a very long day, after dinner, we were blessed to hear from Sarah what mistakes she has made in life thru her testimony and how God has taught her such amazing things through those experiences.
All in all it was an exhausting but successful and exciting day. We are all so excited to see the amazing things that God is doing through the girls here at MST. We are blessed to be a part of the journey. We cannot wait for the rest of our time with everyone here at My Special Treasure!
